‘Stranger’, the anthology by Sans.press, which includes my story ‘Haire’, is now available as an audio book.

Sans.press is such a good platform to have an acceptance from, as they publish your work in a variety of formats – digital, paperback, hardback and, now, audiobook.

This is, I think, the fourth time a professional actor has read one of my stories. The first two I had the pleasure of hearing in person, the third on Zoom – later released as an audio book… as is this one.

I’ve said before that it’s a very interesting experience to hear your work read by a professional. In this case, the reading is done by Sasha Gorbasew, an experienced voice talent.

This was particularly interesting – startling, almost – as Sasha is a Canadian man – so, obviously, reads with a trans-Atlantic accent, in a male voice.

My characters are mainly women – not exclusively, but certainly the majority, as in ‘Haire’. So… the ‘voice’ of my story is ‘female’. And (this is strange, I suppose) although I am always adamant that I write ‘for the page’, one of my final edits is to read my work aloud. So, again, the story in my head, or from my lips, is ‘female’.

However, Sasha is an excellent reader, and an expert interpreter of the text. Many thanks to him!

To be honest, I don’t tend to listen to audio-books – that ‘page’ thing, again. This, of course, may change. And I know many people love them, and that, for those literature-lovers who are visually-impaired, they provide a life-line to the books they want to discover.

The audio anthology is available in a number of places.

I am thrilled that Sans.press have made this possible, and I am very grateful to them.
