I’m delighted to say my first – and possibly my only – Young Adult book has been published by Little Grebe Books.

(I’m a little behind in posting about this, due to website hosting changes.)
Little Grebe is a Pembrokeshire Community Interest Company whose aim is to develop creativity, share stories and connect with audiences.

When I saw the submission window for their publishing ‘arm’, I was interested in this community ethos, and also liked the idea of having a publisher based locally, whom I could have personal contact with.
So I decided to send in the novel I had written a while ago, based in Avebury. We had lived in Wiltshire for a few years, and I loved that particular part of it, with the Stone circle, Silbury Hill, the Long Barrow, the Ridgeway, crop circles – all of it! I loved the myth and magic surrounding these features, and, after we left, I decided to write a story set there, as a way of keeping it alive in my mind…. much as I had written about the Black Mountains, after moving away from them.

‘A Different Way of Knowing’ is about two sisters who are very unalike, and see the world in opposing ways. It takes place in the year 2000 and explores the different versions of ‘self’ we all have, while examining the way books, myth and reality can merge to shape our worlds.
As part of its community approach, Little Grebe was able to commission a Pembrokeshire artist to provide the cover. With only a vague suggestion from me, Fran Evans produced the perfect artwork for the book – a cover which has real impact, ideally suited to the subject matter and its intended readership. Thank you, Fran! https://franevans.com
And thank you, of course, Little Grebe. https://www.littlegrebecreative.com
I’ll be posting more shortly, including a video trailer of the story.
