Only a week to go now, until the publication of ‘things found on the mountain’ Available from Seren Books.
I’ve been posting more photos on social media of our visits to the Black Mountains (where the novel is set). As I said before, there is something wonderful about walking in the footsteps of your characters.
I say a little bit about each pic to show its link to the novel.
Here are some of them:
Beth, my main character, is a shepherd. She inherited the role from her brother Daniel, after he failed to return from the First World War. She has learnt the mountain from their cynefin.
Is this the valley where Beth lives? She is rather secretive about the whereabouts of her farm, not wanting anyone to visit.
This is the window in Capel-y-ffin church. It is engraved with the words ‘I will lift up mine eyes to the hills, from whence cometh my help.’ Beth finds solace in the hills, but not in the church.
Another beautiful shot of the mountains, showing they are not always Black.
